Health Care Issues
In our experience, the status of an older person's health has a direct and profound effect on the quality of their life. We encourage families to take the time to learn more about the options for providing health care to their older relatives.
You need to be able to answer these questions, at minimum:
- Should they be on Medicare and purchase a supplemental policy?
- Should they be signed up for a senior HMO?
- Do they qualify for Medicaid (Medi-Cal)?
- Should they purchase long-term care insurance?
In general, when you are choosing health care professionals it is important for you to research who you are dealing with. If you are paying a company to provide services in the home, we strongly suggest that you use only companies that conduct criminal background checks of its workers.
