Case Study : Linda
Linda was a retired hospital administrator in her early 80s, suffering from several health problems. Her biggest problem, however, was stress from outside - a three-year, ongoing fight with Medicare and a nursing home over a bill for $14,665, the cost of her late husband's last days in the nursing home. The dispute was attributable solely to a billing error; Medicare refused to pay the bill, and nursing home refused to correct the error, instead harassing this widow to pay it.
We conducted a complex analysis, discovered the mistake, then negotiated and brought pressure to bear on all the parties involved: Medicare, the nursing home and the company providing a Medicare supplemental policy. Eventually, the entire $14,665 was paid by Medicare and the Medicare supplement.
Linda was referred to Aging Solutions by her financial planner. We provided 10 hours of service over a period of three months.
